Keyesville

Granite boulders and small crags are scattered throughout the entire Keyesville BLM Recreation Area. The bouldering options are almost unlimited.

Top Roping at the Keyesville Cracks

There are some 5.6-5.9 cracks and some tougher friction climbs on a small crag conveniently just off the road.

Although the climbing is limited and inconsistent, there are 5 sets of anchor bolts allowing for top ropes and rappelling practice. Hike up the use-trail to the left of the cliffs.

This formation is on the right, not too far before reaching the restrooms on Keyesville Road (about .5 miles). A large flat boulder on the left marks the parking spot.

Keyesville BLM South

Another entrance to Keyesville is located nearby on the other side of the lower Kern River.

Several boulder problems were established here, and are listed in the hard-to-find guide called: Climbing and Bouldering Guide to the Lower Kern Canyon by Mickey Dunagan.

Southern Keyesville options

Various boulders and some climbs are accessed from the Hwy 178 Bridge near Bodfish.

A few short established routes are located above the Isabella motel on the BLM land.

Some people boulder around the "Granite Launch" at the lower Keyesville Gorge Trail.
